Salmon Brook/ Mclean Refuge Trail update:
As many of you may be aware, there has been some controversy regarding equestrian use of the private land trails near Salmon Brook Park and McLean Game Refuge. On behalf of the Granby Horse Council, Lee Shaw met with the owners of the property. She shared with them some history of the use of these trails and how they are used to permit access to both Salmon Brook and Maclean. Lee explained how and why trails or work arounds are created and used. She was able to negotiate a way for equestrians to continue to utilize these trails. The landowners have decided that only Granby Horse Council members will have access to these trails and that riders wishing to use the trails will need to become members of the GHC. In addition, access to the trails will only be permitted after they have signed a release of liability. Once this form has been signed, they will be given a pass indicating permission to ride on these privately owned trails.
GHC is currently working on identifying the specific process by which forms will be signed and passes distributed.
Many thanks and much appreciation to Lee Shaw for her exceptional efforts in promoting continued access to these beautiful trails.

Annual Banquet 2016
We gathered at the Old Well in Simsbury for an evening of great food and socializing. After the meal, our banquet committee recognized many members for their accomplishments and contributions to the GHC. Then the committee entertained us with light hearted teasing during the famous "funnies". Following the raffle of six beautiful baskets full of treats and treasures, Kurt and Ali provided music to get folks up on to their feet. We had a lot of fun with the barn dance mixer, couples and line dancing.
Sandy Strain presented the jacket awards for 100% participation in trail rides. Congratulations to Lisa Dinsmore, Roger Dinsmore and Kiera Mazlow!
